Fostering Process
We are always looking for Volunteer Foster families to join our team!
If you are considering or would like to be a foster parent for one of our Fairy Tail Rescue dogs please read through our requirements for this position thoroughly and also fill out our application form. Once we review your form we will schedule a phone call with you and a home inspection visit to make sure our dogs are being placed in a safe, happy and loving environment.
Foster Caregiver Requirements
❏ Complete the foster care application and foster care agreement
❏ Be 21 years of age or older
❏ Make sure that you are permitted to foster animals in your home if renting
❏ Have access to transportation
❏ Be able to set aside time to bring the dog for follow up appointments at the vet. Bring them for spay/neuter and other surgeries.
❏ Bring dogs to designated locations for adoption events.
❏ Have time to assess the dog's behaviour and keep a log for the foster coordinator as well as have the time to work on and correct certain behavioural issues if there are any.
❏ Take on the responsibility of puppy training i.e potty training.
❏ Take on the responsibility for routine care in your home and commit to the dog during the entire foster period.
❏ Dog proof your home to avoid potential safety hazards.
❏ Maintain communication with the foster program coordinator.
❏ Maintain a peaceful and loving environment for the foster dog and spend quality time socializing them indoor and outdoor.
❏ Isolate if needed be the foster dog within the home environment from other house pets as required.
❏ All existing house dogs must be spayed/neutered, healthy and up to date on vaccines.
❏ Utilize the emergency contact number for after hour emergencies.
❏ Make sure every family member in the household is aware and agrees on fostering a dog, and is prepared for the commitment and emotions involved with fostering.
Throughout the entire time of fostering, we will provide you with all the necessities such as food, leashes, dog bed. We also cover all medical expenses, we just ask you to be fully committed to the dog and the entire process with patience, understanding, love and to maintain clear communication with our foster coordinator at all times.
